Polo Considers Purchase of New Police Vehicle

POLO – The Polo City Council on Monday night will be considering the purchase of a new police vehicle. They are looking at a 2025 Dodge Durango that would replace a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500. Polo Police Chief Matt Coppotelli said they would be financing most of the cost and seek possible grants to help cover the cost.

Coppotelli said that repair costs have been adding up on the old truck.

“There’s been a lot of maintenance issues, wiring, electrical issues going on,” he said. “We haven’t been able to figure out what’s going on with it. We’ve replaced several parts and it’s becoming expensive, so instead of putting any more money towards the older vehicle, we’re going to just go ahead and trade it in and move forward with a new one.”

He noted that they are still looking to see what the trade in value of the 2014 truck would be. The Council chose to see what the trade value is before selecting a bid on the new vehicle. The Polo Police Department has only four squads.
