Peru Habitat for Humanity Receives State Grant to Support Housing

PERU — Habitat for Humanity of LaSalle Bureau Putnam Counties in Peru has received a $20,000 Charitable Trust grant from Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs to support housing services. The grant is one of 10 awards totaling $195,000 for small nonprofits across Illinois that provide food and housing assistance. Other recipients include organizations in Aurora, Elgin, Aledo, Galesburg, Danville, Herrin, Pittsfield and Chicago. The grants are funded through nonprofit annual filing fees, not tax dollars, and the next application period for eligible organizations runs through Sept. 30.
