DIXON – The Illinois Department of Transportation will begin overnight construction Wednesday on Illinois 2 between Mound Hill and Prairieville-Palmyra roads, just east of Sterling. Crews will patch the northbound and southbound lanes, with one lane closed at a time. The work is expected to continue through Oct. 21, weather permitting. Motorists should expect delays and allow extra time when traveling through the area. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible and watch for workers, equipment, signs and changing traffic conditions.
