Oregon Updates School Resource Officer Agreement

OREGON — The City of Oregon and Oregon Community Unit School District 220 have approved updates to their School Resource Officer agreement, clarifying the officer’s duties and rules for accessing school security cameras and student information. Under the revised terms, police may view live or recorded footage only in emergencies or with school administration approval for non-emergency matters, and recordings showing students are treated as confidential student records. The agreement maintains that SROs remain City employees, handle law enforcement matters, and do not enforce school discipline independently except when requested for safety reasons.
