OREGON — The Oregon City Council on Wednesday reviewed the proposed 2025 tax levy. City Manager Darin DeHaan said the levy, totaling an estimated $822,624, will support police, streets, insurance, retirement contributions, and recreation programs. Homeowners with a $150,000 property would see an increase of about $12.92 next year, while a $200,000 home would rise roughly $17.22, largely due to higher property values rather than higher rates.
DeHaan noted some funds, including the audit fund, did not require additional levies, while the police fund received the largest increase to cover growing personnel and operational costs. Other adjustments were made to keep the total levy within the 3.95 percent target. Council members said rising property values and new developments, such as the solar field, affect bills more than rate changes, and a public hearing on the levy will be held before final approval. Mayor Ken Williams said the city continues to work to balance funding for essential services while minimizing the impact on residents.
