Oregon Council Approves Purchase of New Police Squad Car

OREGON — The City of Oregon has approved the purchase of a new police squad car for up to $55,000, replacing a Dodge Charger that has faced repeated mechanical issues. The department will acquire a Ford Interceptor SUV equipped with police features and plans to sell the old vehicle, expecting to recover $8,000 to $10,000. The new vehicle will be outfitted locally before entering service, and last week officials said no additional squad cars are anticipated next fiscal year, as two previously approved vehicles are still being readied.
