ROCK FALLS — Blackhawk Hills Regional Council has launched a housing design competition to promote multigenerational living, universal design, and other housing concepts in Carroll, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, and Whiteside counties. Funded in part by AARP, the contest is open to U.S.-based design professionals and students, with special encouragement for those connected to Northwest Illinois. Up to six $5,000 prizes will be awarded, including two reserved for local entrants and one decided by community vote. Entries are due Oct. 17, and winning designs will be showcased in 2026.
