New Mural Unveiled at Rochelle VFW Post 3878

ROCHELLE – Rochelle VFW Post 3878 revealed a new mural Wednesday morning on the back of its building, featuring a bald eagle, the American flag, military service members, and the post’s name. The mural was painted by local artist Matt Steder, who previously created a mural on the back of the former Hub City Furniture building in the downtown area.

Dennis Orlikowski, commander of VFW Post 3878, said it originally was going to be much simpler.

“When I first talked to Matt, he was all pumped about it. And first, I just wanted an American flag and our Post number.

He goes, nah, you got to have the wow factor.”

Steder took on the challenge and got to work.

“It only took me probably a full week on and off to kind of come up with the design because I already had it drawn in my head.

I just had to put it on the paper.”
