WASHINGTON — National Grandparents Day is observed Sept. 13 to recognize and celebrate the contributions of both paternal and maternal grandparents. The observance has been held annually since 1978 and is organized by Generations United. The day encourages families to spend time with grandparents and recognize the important role they play in the lives of children and families.
