WASHINGTON, DC – The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline has fallen to $3.05, dropping more than five cents in the past week and nearing the $3 mark for the first time in four years. The decline is attributed to lower crude oil prices, reduced demand, and the seasonal switch to cheaper winter-blend fuel. The American Automobile Association reports Illinois’ average at $3.11, with local prices at $2.91 in Ogle County, $2.99 in Lee County, and $3.11 in DeKalb.
