SYCAMORE – A 36-year-old Kirkland man and former Elgin police officer has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for possessing child sexual abuse material following a prosecution by the Illinois Attorney General’s Office. Jordan Collins was sentenced Tuesday by DeKalb County Circuit Court Judge Marcy Buick after pleading guilty to four counts of possession of child sexual abuse material. Investigators searched Collins’ Kirkland home in December 2023 and recovered evidence of the material, and he was arrested later that day while on duty with the cooperation of the Elgin Police Department. The case was co-prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office and the DeKalb County State’s Attorney’s Office as part of ongoing efforts to investigate and prosecute child exploitation crimes across Illinois.
