Jury Deliberations Underway in Duane Meyer Murder Trial

OREGON – Jurors began deliberating shortly before 2 p.m. Monday following closing arguments in the trial of Duane Meyer, a 43-year-old Byron man accused of killing his ex-wife and son in a 2016 house fire. Meyer has pleaded not guilty to four counts of first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated arson, and one count of concealing a homicidal death. Prosecutors allege that in October 2016, Meyer intentionally set fire to a residence in the 2000 block of Silverthorn Avenue. The blaze claimed the lives of 31-year-old Margaret Meyer and their 3-year-old son, Amos. Meyer did not testify during the proceedings.
