CHICAGO – As you adjust to everything being one hour later from the time change this morning, was it because we were “Saving” time or “Savings” time? The term Daylight Saving Time is the correct phrasing, and is used not only in the United States, but Canada and Australia, too. Daylight Saving Time helped us gain more hours in the evening, hence, saving light for afternoon activities. In other countries the clock adjustment uses other names, like Standard Time in the United Kingdom and “Winterzeit” (winter time) in Germany.
