Interrogation Video Shown in Duane Meyer Trial

OREGON — Prosecutors on Tuesday played nearly three hours of video from a 2016 interrogation of Duane Meyer during the fifth day of his trial, where the 43 year old Byron man is accused of starting a house fire that killed his ex-wife Maggie Meyer and their 3-year-old son Amos. Detectives questioned Meyer about his divorce, his actions the day of the fire, and cell phone records showing a phone ping in Byron, which Meyer denied. Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Chuck Davidson, one of the interrogators, was later cross examined by the defense about interview tactics and the accuracy of phone records, while prosecutors said detectives are trained to get suspects to commit to a story. The trial continues today.
