Illinois State Police Investigate Death At I-80 Rest Area In Bureau County

PRINCETON – Illinois State Police are investigating a death at the Great Sauk Trail Rest Area in Bureau County after troopers located a vehicle linked to a homicide investigation in Rock County Wisconsin late Wednesday night. Police said troopers attempted a traffic stop around 10 p.m. on December 10 and a pursuit followed before ending at the westbound I-80 rest area. Officers approached the vehicle and found the driver who was the only occupant deceased with an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound. The investigation remains active and Illinois State Police are working with the Bureau County State’s Attorney’s Office.
