SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Labor has resolved several investigations under the Paid Leave for All Workers Act, including a case in Ottawa, after employers worked with the state to correct policies and pay workers. In Ottawa, Ottawa Donuts Inc paid about $9,600 to more than 60 employees and more than $8,000 in penalties after issues were found with access to earned leave. In Bolingbrook, Leaf Home Enhancements LLC paid about $5,400 in back wages and $20,000 in penalties. In Schaumburg, Hellcat Subs LLC paid more than $1,000 to an employee and $7,500 in penalties. In Champaign, I Operations LLC corrected leave rules and paid $2,500 in penalties. State officials said employers cooperated and corrected violations under the law that took effect in 2024.
