Illinois Department of Labor Reports Enforcement Actions In 2025


SPRINGFIELD – As 2025 ends, the Illinois Department of Labor reported enforcement actions that protected workers and recovered about $2.7 million in unpaid wages statewide. The department returned about $102,000 to health care staffing workers and recovered more than $30,000 for a laid off manufacturing worker. Public works investigations recovered more than $166,000 in unpaid prevailing wages and more than $33,000 in penalties. Minimum wage and overtime violations at a restaurant led to the recovery of more than $20,000 for workers. Mediation resolved more than 830 small wage claims totaling about $103,000. Child labor enforcement resulted in $31,000 in penalties against a fast food restaurant. Equal pay enforcement led to a $10,000 payment to a worker and a $2,500 penalty. The department also reviewed more than 1,500 pay transparency complaints and resolved more than 630 cases.
