IDOT Urges Drivers to ‘Not Veer for Deer’ as Mating Season Heightens Crash Risk

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Transportation is reminding motorists to not veer for deer. Deer mating season occurs from October through January, which makes deer more active. Officials said November is historically the highest-risk month in Illinois. Last year, there were nearly 15,000 crashes involving deer in the state.
