I-88 Construction Work Resumes This Week in Whiteside County

ROCK FALLS — The Illinois Department of Transportation said construction will resume this week on Interstate 88 from the U.S. 30 interchange in Rock Falls to west of the U.S. 30 spur interchange. Crews will mill and resurface the highway as part of a $26.8 million project expected to be completed in November. One lane of traffic in each direction will remain open during construction. Drivers should expect delays, watch for stopped traffic and use alternate routes when possible. Last year’s work included pavement patching, bridge repairs over Elkhorn Creek and Polo Road, and removal of the abandoned BNSF railroad crossing.
