HFS Increases Funding For Planned Parenthood To Maintain Reproductive Health Access

CHICAGO — The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services will invest 4 million dollars in Medicaid family planning services to offset a temporary loss of federal funding for Planned Parenthood tied to a federal budget measure. The funding will support contraception, sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment and cancer screenings after Planned Parenthood served nearly 35 thousand Illinois Medicaid patients in 2024. State officials say the move will maintain access to basic reproductive health care statewide while legal challenges to the federal action continue.
