In a sad note in sports today, former RTHS boys head basketball coach Russ Zick has passed away. He was 72 years old.
Russ coached 14 years at RTHS between 1997 and 2011 and won 238 games and 6 regionals.
He also coached 14 years at Paxton-Buckley-Loda, 7 years at AFC, 4 years at Scales Mound, and 1 year at Kaneland.
In 40 years as a head boys basketball coach in Illinois, Zick won 613 games.
Russ is also a member of the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
