ROCHELLE — The Flagg-Rochelle Community Park District Board Monday highlighted growing recreation programs and planned facility improvements. Participation at The REC Center has increased, with hundreds of youth using basketball courts on weekends and new programs for Tilton School students during construction at their facility. Seasonal events include the annual lighted Christmas parade and Thanksgiving Turkey Trot. Planned upgrades include pool heating, ADA-compliant pool stairs, and maintenance improvements at Skare Park, including new gutters and safety signage. Staff achievements, including lifeguard certifications and promotions, were recognized. The board also approved 10 new concrete park signs at a cost of $21,180, with other improvements to parking lots, equipment, and Tilton Park funded through grants and reserves.
