SPRINGFIELD – Hunters in Illinois harvested 255 wild turkeys during the 2025 fall firearm season from Oct. 18-26, down from 294 last year, with the largest harvest reported in Jefferson and Jo Daviess counties. No turkeys were taken in Ogle, Lee, or DeKalb counties. The regular fall firearm season was open in 56 of the state’s 102 counties and saw 1,763 permits sold, comparable to last year’s total of 1,756. About 57% of the harvest were female turkeys and 43% were male. The record fall harvest of 1,218 birds was set in 2005.
