SOMONAUK — One person died Saturday morning after a medical emergency led to a two-vehicle crash on Somonauk Road, about a quarter mile south of Chicago Road. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office says an SUV rear-ended a pickup before veering into a ditch and spinning. Deputies and Somonauk Fire personnel provided medical aid, and the driver of the SUV was taken to Northwestern Medicine Valley West Hospital, where they were later pronounced dead. The driver of the pickup, a 60-year-old Plano man, was not injured. Authorities are withholding the identity of the deceased pending family notification.
