SYCAMORE — One driver was cited following a two vehicle crash with injuries Wednesday morning at the intersection of Base Line Road and Five Points Road, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said a vehicle driven by a 67-year-old Esmond woman was traveling eastbound on Base Line Road when it allegedly failed to reduce speed and disobeyed a stop sign, striking a northbound pickup truck driven by a 28-year-old Kirkland man. Authorities said the Esmond woman’s vehicle rolled multiple times and she was extricated and airlifted to Javon Bae Hospital with suspected serious injuries. The Kirkland man was taken to OSF Saint Anthony’s Hospital with suspected serious injuries, and a passenger in his vehicle, a 30-year-old Kingston man was transported to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital for minor injuries. The Esmond woman was cited for disobeying a stop sign and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
