SYCAMORE – An Elgin man is facing multiple charges after allegedly drinking from an open bottle of tequila when firefighters found him behind the wheel after a crash. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to Old State Road and East County Line Road on Thursday morning and found a vehicle in a cornfield with 64-year-old Jose R. Guadalajara in the driver’s seat. He was removed by Sycamore firefighters, taken to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital, and later charged with DUI A2, improper lane use, and possession of open alcohol by a driver before being released with a notice to appear.
