DeKalb to Collect Turkeys for Thanksgiving Meals November 21

DEKALB – The annual Let’s Talk Turkey event will be held Friday, November 21, at The Salvation Army DeKalb Corps Community Center, 830 Grove Street in DeKalb between 7 AM and 3 PM to provide Thanksgiving meals for families in DeKalb County. Donors are encouraged to bring smaller turkeys, hams, or roasts. Monetary donations are also accepted to purchase turkeys, and last year about 450 were collected, including over 100 donated by the DeKalb Fire Department.

“We’re looking for smaller turkeys or hams that a family can actually use for a holiday meal, and the community continues to step up every year,” said TD Ryan, organizer of the Let’s Talk Turkey event.

All collected meals will be distributed to families in need in the days before Thanksgiving.
