DEKALB — The DeKalb Police Department issued 69 citations during its April distracted driving enforcement campaign, including 17 for distracted driving, 25 for speeding, four for driving while license suspended, eight for no insurance, and 15 for other violations. Police said the effort was part of Distracted Driving Awareness Month and involved coordination with the Illinois State Police and other law enforcement agencies. Commander Kwasniewski said distracted driving remains a serious problem and officers will continue enforcement efforts beyond April. The campaign was funded by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
