DEKALB — The DeKalb Park District will receive a $400,000 Open Space Land Acquisition and Development grant from the State of Illinois to expand recreational opportunities at Prairie Park. The project will add nine new disc golf holes, a 0.3-mile paved loop trail, a fishing outcrop and river overlook, a picnic shelter and gaming area, and restore approximately seven acres of woodland understory. The district provided a $400,000 match for the project. The funding is part of a $36 million statewide round awarded to 67 communities for local park development.
