DeKalb County To Host America 250 Celebration July 8th

SYCAMORE — DeKalb County will celebrate the nation’s 250th birthday with the One County, One Nation: America 250 event on Wednesday, July 8, on the DeKalb County Courthouse Lawn in Sycamore. The free event begins at 3 p.m. and will feature a Civil War reenactment, military vehicle show, magic show, face painting, balloon artist, crafts, live entertainment and other family activities. Highlights include a Purple Heart County ceremony, a veterans photo, an air show by the Illinois Aviation Academy and a national reading of the Declaration of Independence at 5 p.m. Free hot dogs, chips and water will be available for veterans, active military members and first responders through The Salvation Army.
