DeKalb Council Delays Budget Vote and Sets 2025 Tax Levy

DEKALB — The DeKalb City Council on Monday night held a public hearing and first reading of the Fiscal Year 2026 budget but postponed a final vote after a motion to skip the second reading did not advance. The City Council also approved the 2025 property tax levy for 2026 collection while abating earlier debt service taxes.
