DEKALB — The DeKalb City Council approved Monday night an amendment to the 2024 Community Development Block Grant Annual Action Plan to reallocate $50,000 from street improvements to the Roots to Rise Transitional Youth Shelter. The shelter provides housing and support for local youth ages 14 to 24 experiencing homelessness or housing instability. The funds are part of the city’s federal CDBG allocation and were repurposed from unspent 2024 funds in accordance with federal guidelines and the city’s citizen participation requirements.
