DEKALB — The DeKalb City Council approved a $38,500 agreement with artist Kirsten Sandlin to create a new mural on the east-facing wall at N. Seventh Street and E. Lincoln Highway. The mural will honor the city’s connection to the historic Lincoln Highway, President Abraham Lincoln, and the Declaration of Independence as part of the America250 DeKalb initiative. The design features a national vista, a portrait of Lincoln, local historic elements, and text promoting unity and equality. The project is scheduled for completion by mid-June and is funded through the city’s America250 DeKalb budget, with a pending matching grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
