DeKalb Awards Additional Federal Funds To Local Social Service Agencies

DEKALB — The City of DeKalb has awarded $60,100 in additional federal Community Development Block Grant funding to five social service agencies, including Children’s Learning Center, Elder Care Services, Hope Haven, Safe Passage, and the Voluntary Action Center. The funds, approved by the City Council on Oct. 13, come after the city’s annual agreement with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development was finalized and follow $53,000 in CDBG funding and $300,000 in local grants distributed earlier this year. The money will support programs providing childcare, senior care, meals, and emergency shelter services for DeKalb residents.
