Cubs Pitcher Shota Imanaga Is Now A Free Agent

Cubs pitching ace Shota Imanaga is a free agent.
The team declined its option to extend the left-handed hurler’s contract to five years’ worth 80 million dollars. Imanaga then turned down a 15-million-dollar option for 2026.
Over his two seasons, he became an All Star in his rookie season with a 2.91 ERA in 29 starts. Imanaga had a hamstring injury most of this season and had a 3.73 ERA. The Cubs could still extend a qualifying offer to avoid losing him in free agency.
