Creston Water Tower Washed; Sediment Buildup Found Inside

CRESTON — The water tower in Creston recently underwent a pressure washing that removed built-up dirt from the exterior. While the outside was found to be in good condition, with only minimal paint peeling during the cleaning, the interior told a different story. At Tuesday’s Village Trustee meeting, officials reported that a significant amount of sediment had built up inside the tank. An inspection robot was lowered into the tank to assess the situation and revealed that the material at the bottom had hardened. The tower’s mud valve, typically used to flush out debris, was not effectively removing the sediment. The village may need to hire a specialized company to break up the hardened material and drain the tank in the future.
