ROCHELLE – The Community Action Network Food Truck Festival is set for Saturday in downtown Rochelle from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Three food trucks will be on hand near the Flagg Township Museum during the final Cut the Square event of the year. The festival raises money to support programs for local families, including the organization’s annual Christmas shopping program. Community Action Network Board President Michelle Pease said the group provides several types of assistance to families throughout the year.
“What we do is we facilitate programs that assist our families in the community. One of our biggest is the shopping trip. At that event, we have backpacks. We have gym shoes for kids, because those can be pretty expensive for families. We’ve got new and gently used coats. So when the kids come to the event, they can get gym shoes, they can get coats, and then they are also able to go Christmas shopping at Walmart for clothing through donations that we get,” Pease said.
The food trucks will be ready to serve at 11 a.m., and organizers encourage people to come early since vendors have sold out of food at previous events. Cut the Square will run from 12 to 4 p.m.. with classic cars, music, community activities and tours of the museum.
