Bishop Hill, IL — Crossroads Cultural Connections will host Chloe Kimes in concert at Bishop Hill Creative Commons on Wednesday, January 28. The evening will begin with an optional potluck dinner at 6 p.m., followed by the concert at 7 p.m. The show is all ages, and a suggested donation of $20–30 will support the artist.
Kimes has become a rising voice in contemporary folk and alt-country. Her performance of “Coors Light” on WDVX’s Blue Plate Special in Knoxville went viral, garnering more than 4 million views in a week. She quickly recorded a studio version at RCA Studio A with producer Phillip Smith and released the single, which features mandolin, pedal steel, upright bass, acoustic guitar, and drums. Kimes draws on the songwriting traditions of John Prine, John Hartford, and Tom T. Hall, blending classic country instrumentation with modern energy.
Born in northern Michigan, Kimes began performing in small towns at age 14 before moving to Nashville in 2016. She released her self-titled debut album in 2022 to wide acclaim, earning NPR Music recognition and WYCE Radio honors. Bishop Hill Creative Commons invites the community to experience Kimes’ songwriting and live performance in an intimate, all-ages setting.
