Byron Receives Clean Audit Opinion

BYRON — The City of Byron received a clean, unmodified opinion in its annual audit conducted by Sikich LLP of Naperville. The report, presented to city officials by Lindsey Fish, CPA, showed the city’s total net position increased from about $19 million to $20 million as of April 30, 2025, with $1.6 million invested in capital projects including the new public works building. Auditors noted the city’s finances remain strong and pension obligations well-funded, though a recurring material weakness related to segregation of duties was identified due to the small size of the finance staff. The council’s finance committee voted to recommend approval of the audit.
