Byron Man’s Trial Continues in 2016 Double Murder Case

BYRON – Last week, jurors heard that a 2016 Byron house fire that killed 31-year-old Margaret Meyer and her 3-year-old son Amos started on or near the couch where her body was found. Forensic experts said Margaret had injuries consistent with blunt force trauma and possible strangulation, while Amos died from smoke inhalation. Investigators presented text messages, witness statements, and photos of the home, including burn patterns and a disrupted bedroom. Duane Meyer has pleaded not guilty to four counts of first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated arson, and one count of concealment of a homicidal death. The trial is scheduled to resume on Tuesday.
