BYRON — The City of Byron approved an ordinance levying $758,425.92 last week in property taxes for the fiscal year beginning May 1, 2025, and ending April 30, 2026, covering services such as general operations, police protection, insurance, IMRF, Social Security, Medicare, unemployment insurance, and audit costs. The levy includes $237,000 for general corporate use, $67,000 for police protection, $168,500 for IMRF, $108,500 for insurance, $35,000 for worker compensation, $86,540 for Social Security, and $21,285.92 for Medicare. The ordinance also confirms that no taxes will be levied for previously issued and refinanced water, sewer, or TIF related bonds.
