Barn Fire Injures Sycamore Firefighter

SYCAMORE – A barn fire Tuesday morning in rural Sycamore injured one firefighter and caused an estimated $100,000 in damage. The Sycamore Fire Department was called around 9 a.m. to the 7800 block of Mayfield Road after a passerby reported the fire. Firefighters quickly contained the blaze inside a large hog barn. No people or animals were inside. The injured firefighter was treated and released from Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital. Other area fire departments assisted at the scene and no other injuries were reported, and the fire did not spread to nearby buildings. The cause remains undetermined and is not considered suspicious.
