Appeals Court Blocks Release Of Chicago Immigration Detainees

CHICAGO –  An appeals court is temporarily blocking the release of several hundred people detained by immigration agents in the Chicago area.  The Thursday ruling halts an earlier order calling for the release of those detainees.  The appeals court opted to block that order while the government appeals.  The group of people in custody includes many arrested as part of Operation Midway Blitz.  A hearing next month will decide whether the temporary stay remains in effect.
