Accused Rockford Bowling Alley Shooter Requests New Judge

ROCKFORD – Duke Webb, accused of shooting and killing three people and injuring several others at Don Carter Lanes in December 2020, has requested a new judge in his case. During a court hearing last week, Judge John Gibbons set a new court date for Jan. 27, when Judge Debra Schafer will preside and decide who will oversee Webb’s case. At that hearing, Webb is also expected to choose whether to represent himself, use a public defender, or hire outside counsel. In June 2024, Gibbons ruled Webb fit to stand trial. Webb has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including first-degree murder and attempted murder.
