CHICAGO — Gas prices in Illinois continued to decline this week, though drivers are still paying significantly more than they did a year ago. According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Illinois was $4.45 on Thursday, down from $4.67 one week earlier. The statewide average was $3.41 at the same time in 2025, while the current national average stands at $4.13 per gallon. Diesel prices in Illinois averaged $5.58 per gallon, down from $6.02 one month ago but higher than the $3.51 average recorded a year ago. The national average for diesel is $5.28. Local averages on Thursday were $4.22 in Ogle County, $4.39 in Lee County, and $4.44 in DeKalb County.
