DeKalb Farmers Market Offers Extended Hours Tonight

DEKALB — The DeKalb Farmers Market will offer extended hours tonight from noon to 6 p.m. at Van Buer Plaza in downtown DeKalb, giving shoppers extra time to visit vendors and food trucks. The special event is one of three extended market days scheduled this season and will feature locally grown produce, baked goods, specialty foods and handmade products. Marketing and Events Manager Virginia Jimenez said shoppers can expect a different experience each time they visit. “We have an average of 40 vendors every week and we have, I would say about 80% of the vendors are there every week, but we also have the other 20% that have more of a sporadic schedule. So each time you come to the market, you might see someone new. And especially on the extended hours days, we have a couple more food trucks and some vendors who are only there on those specific days.” The DeKalb Farmers Market is held every Thursday through Sept. 3. The final extended hours event is scheduled for Aug. 13.
