ROCHELLE — The Flagg-Rochelle Community Park District is seeking public input as it prepares to apply for another state Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development grant for improvements at Tilton Memorial Park. The district will host informational meetings Aug. 12 at 5 p.m. and Aug. 13 at 5:30 p.m. at The REC Center to discuss proposed projects and gather feedback from residents. Plans include updates to baseball fields, a new playground, exercise equipment connected by hard surface trails, field improvements and other park upgrades.
Executive Director Jackie Ohlinger said community input will help shape the grant application. “We’re definitely always open to listening to our community’s input and we encourage everyone to come out and listen to what the designers have provided us as a concept drawing for our grant application. We can always make modifications and changes throughout the process but love to see as many people as we can get to come and provide us with feedback,” Ohlinger said.
The park district applied for a similar OSLAD grant last year but was not awarded funding. Officials expect to learn more about the status of the new application later this year.
