DEKALB — The 10th annual Taste of DeKalb will be held Sept. 27th at Van Buer Plaza in downtown DeKalb following the DeKalb Corn Classic 10K and 5K. The free event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and feature food trucks, live music, children’s activities and a 50/50 raffle. Food vendors will include Nina’s Tacos, Slow Smoke Barbecue, Big D’s Hot Dogs, Little O’s and Ja Love Jamaica. InFunktious will perform from 9 to 11:30 a.m., followed by The Prissillas from noon to 2:30 p.m. Children’s activities will include a large inflatable obstacle course and face painting.
David Dosier, organizer of the event with the Kishwaukee Sunshine Rotary, said the Taste has become a popular gathering after the morning race.
“We’ve got live bands going. We’ve also got lots of children’s activities to include a very large inflatable obstacle course, some face painting, and some other kids’ activities to keep them busy,” Dosier said. “So come down and listen to the music, have some wonderful food, and the kids can enjoy themselves as well.”
Proceeds from the event will support community grants for children, youth and families in DeKalb County. Several downtown streets will be closed for the event, with public parking available across Lincoln Highway.
