SYCAMORE – Carnival rides, craft shows, food vendors and live entertainment will be among the attractions Saturday, Oct. 24, during the 65th annual Sycamore Pumpkin Festival. The Sycamore Rotary pancake breakfast runs from 7 to 11 a.m., and the giant pumpkin trophy presentation is scheduled for 10 a.m. Magic Matt and lumberjack shows will take place throughout the day, with a lumberjack kids camp scheduled for 3 p.m. The teen and kiddie carnivals will run from noon to 10 p.m., and the Kiwanis Club pie eating contest begins at 4 p.m. Visitors can also explore craft and vendor shows at several locations around Sycamore. Parade Chairman Jerome Perez said the festival has displayed some enormous pumpkins over the years.
“We have had them over a thousand pounds.” He said moving and measuring the largest pumpkins can be difficult. “We don’t particularly like those because there are a lot of work to get up and measure.”
The festival continues Sunday with the Sycamore Chamber 10K Pumpkin Run and the annual parade.
