SYCAMORE — The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office said a portion of Illinois State Route 23 will be designated the Deputy Christina Musil Memorial Highway beginning Friday, May 1, honoring the deputy who was killed in a traffic crash in the line of duty. Sheriff Andrew Sullivan said the memorial ensures her service and sacrifice are not forgotten.
“It’s an extreme honor that they’re honoring Christina with renaming that portion of the roadway in her memory. It proves that she will, again, never be forgotten. So I’m very thankful, and so is her family, that this is happening,” Sullivan said.
Musil was struck from behind in her squad car on March 29, 2024.
“We will always honor her and her memory and the service that she gave to us and our country,” Sullivan said.
The designation covers Route 23 from Perry Road to McGirr Road.
